James Jorden Senr – 150 acres in Cabell County
situated on the Mud River

sold to John Jorden
March 4, 1813
for $1


This Indenture made and entered into the fourth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen, between James Jorden Senr of Cabell County and State of Virginia of the one part, and John Jorden of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said James Jorden Senr for and in consideration of one dollar to him in hand paid hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said John Jorden a certan Tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Cabell and situated on Mud River above and adjoining a survey of Mrs. Sanders formerly owned by the William __ and adjoining Andrew Jorden on the upper side containing one hundred and fifty acres to have and to hold the sd tract of land with the appurtenances unto the sd John Jorden his heirs and assigns forever and for the only proper use and behoof of him the sd John Jorden his heirs and assigns and the sd James Jorden for himself his heirs the land with all and singular the appurtenances before mentioned unto the sd John Jorden his heirs and assigns free from the claim of myself my heirs or any person, claiming in through or under me. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and year first above written.

At a Court held for Cabell County on Tuesday the sixth day of April 1813, An indenture of bargain and sale between James Jorden Senr. Of the one part and John Jorden of the other part was acknowledged by the said James Jorden Senr and ordered to be recorded.

INDENTURE

John Jordan – 140 acres plus another 40 acres in Cabell County
situated on the Mud River

sold to William Fullerton
March 27, 1820
for $1000


This Indenture made this 27th day of March
1820 between John Jordan and Sinah his wife
of the County of Cabell of the one part &
William Fullerton of the said County of the
other part witnesseth I the said Jordan &
Sinah his wife for the In consideration of
the sum of One thousand dollars in hand paid
by the said Fullerton the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowl’d hath bargained & sold unto
said Fullerton one certain tract or parcel
of land lying & being in the County of Cabell
on Mud River by Estimation 140 acres,
by survey also an entry of 40 acres be the
same more or less and bounded as followeth.
Beginning on two white oaks on Duvauls lin
near the forks of the Branch thence running
to the bee bark on said river and meandering
the river up to a Beech at the end of Andrew
Jordans Field at the ford thence with Andrew
Jordans fence with a strate line to Priors
corner thence with that line to the Widow
Sanders thence with her line to the Beginning
also the 40 acre survey is bounded as
followeth Beginning at a beech & Gum corner
to Jaine Jordan so round as to include 40
acres agreeable to Patent with its appertences
unto the said William Fullerton his
heirs and assigns forever & the said Jordan
doth for himself his heirs executors & administrators
and assigns dth warrant and
defend the right and Title from me and my
heirs forever & from all persons claiming
by & through me unto the said Fullerton &
his heirs forever

We William Brumfield & Thomas Kilgore
magistrates of the said County do hereby certify
that Jno Jourdan & Sinah his wife parties
to the within conveyance have duly acknowledged
the same before us on the 27th of March
1820 and desired us to certify the said acknowledgement
to the Clerk of the County Court
of Cabell County in order that the same conveyance
may be recorded as witness our hands
& seals this day & year above written

We William Brumfield & Thomas Kilgore
Justices of the Peace in the County aforesaid
in Sta~e of Virginia do hereby certify that
Sin~h Jordan a wife of John Jourdan parties
to a certain deed for the conveyance of real
Estate to William Fullerton bearing date the
27th of March 1820 or as hereto annexed personally
appeared before us in our said County
aforesaid and being examined by us privily &
apart from her husband & having the deed aforesaid
fully explained to her she the said Sinah
Jourdan acknowledg’d the same to be her act &
deed & declared that she had willingly signed
sealed & delivered the same & that she wished
not to retract it. Given under our hands &
seals this 27th day of March 1820

This deed of Bargain &’Sale from John
Jourdan & wife to William Fullerton was this
day presented to me the Clerk of Cabell County
Court together with the certificate of acknowledgement
