This Indenture made this 14th day of may in the year of our lord eighteen hundred & sixteen Between John Morris Jr & Jane his wife of Cabell County & State of virginia of the one part & Laurence Briant of the Second Place Witnesseth that the said Morris Jr & Jane his wife for and in Consideration of the sum of twenty dollars to them in hand paid by the sd Laurence Briant the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge have bargained & sold & do by these presents Bargain & sell unto the said Laurence Briant a certain tract or parcel of Land situate Cabell County lying and being on mud river and bounded as followes towit Beginning at two elms on the bank of mud river N12E52 poles to a sugar & Beech thence N32E50 poles to a white oak & sugar tree thence N13W34 poles to a buckeye & ash thence N15W32 poles to a Beach thence N24W40 poles to a Beach thence N70E40 polse to a white oak thence S82E110 poles to a white oak thence S32W supposed to be 170 poles to the river the down the same to the Beginning containing twenty acres be the same more or less To have and to hold the said Land & premises with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto him the said Lawrence Briant his heirs & assigns forever and the said John Morris Jr & Jane his wife for themselves their Heirs, Execs & admrs shall and will warrant and forever defend the title to the said land & premises free from the Claim or Claims of themselves their Heirs & all Persons whatsoever In witness whereof they have hereunto set their hands & seals the deay and date above written

This Deed of Bargain & Sale from John Morris Jr & Jane his wife to Laurence Briant was this day presented to me the Clerk of Cabell County Court and duly acknowledged by the said John Morris the same therefore is admitted to be recorded in my Office by an act of assembly in such cases made & presented. Given under my hand this 27th day of August 1816
