James Barbour, Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth Of Virginia: To all to whom these presents shall come, greeting; know ye that by virtue of a Land Office Treasure warrant no. 19,193, issued the 6th of September, 1783, there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto James Jordan Junior, a certain tract or parcel of land containing ninety eight acres, by survey, bearing date the 15th day of March, 1809, situated in the County of Kanawha on the west side of mud river, adjoining and above a survey of one thousand acres made for John P. Duvall, on which James Jordan now lives and is bounded as followeth, to wit:
Beginning at a sycamore, maple, and elm, on the bank of the river, on the south west side thereof, by some rocks below a branch, then south twenty-two degrees west fifty poles crossing a branch to a white oak, and dogwood, on the east side of a ridge, north five degrees east seventy four poles to a poplar by a branch, north eighty four degrees east thirty poles to a beech and white oak on the point of a hill; south nine degrees east thirty eight poles to a beech and poplar on the flat of a branch south fifty seven degrees east one hundred and eight poles to a sugar tree and two beeches on the bank of the river and down the same, with the meanders thereof and binding thereon two hundred and eighty four poles to the beginning.
To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land, with its appurtenances to the said James Jordan Junior and his heirs forever. In witness whereof the said James Barbour Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand and caused the lessor seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the twenty second day of August, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twelve and of the Commonwealth the thirty seventh.
