Court Order 2

Know all men by these Presents that We James Jordan and William Hunter Cavendish are held firmly bound unto James Henderson Willm Hutchinson, John Anderson, and William Renick Gent or their successors Justices of the Court of Green Baier in the sum of Forty Pounds lawfull money of Virginia a to which payment well and truly to be made We hereby bind ourselves and Heirs and assigns firmly by these Presents, Seal’d with our seals and Dated this 17th day of August 1785

The Condition of the above obligation is that if the above James Jordan shall pay unto Jane Hugart the sum of Ten Pounds in quarterly payments for the maintenance of a baseborn child begotten by the said James upon the sd Jane for one year & also the sum of one other Ten Pounds in two years at five pounds p annum, in the two succeeding years, if the said child shall so long live or if it be not before the Expiration of said Term by the approbation of this Court bound apprentice according to Law then this obligation to be Void.
